iPhone App Development to Meet Your Unique Needs

Mobile app development is a fast-growing and rapidly-changing industry. Whether they’re trying to reach new customers, improve user experience, or engage with an existing audience, businesses from a variety of sectors turn to iPhone app developers to deliver a product that lets them stand out from the crowd.

Since Apple’s App Store launched in 2008, development companies have sprung up all over the world. Each offer their own unique features and services. With such stiff competition, it’s an absolute honor for us to be featured as the best of the best by Digital.com. Let’s take a moment to learn more about their meticulous evaluation process for this prestigious award.

How Digital.com Digs Deep for Insights

Originally founded in 2015 as Review Squirrel, Digital.com has quickly become a trusted source of information for small businesses to find the best tools and services to solve their needs. By analyzing public sentiment through social media and scoring companies’ products and services, the website has established a solid reputation for finding unique insights into what would work best for small businesses across a multitude of industries.

Digital.com’s list of 2021’s best iPhone app developers originally had 160 candidates for consideration! To narrow it down to the top 15 companies, Digital.com’s team spent 40 hours researching and analyzing companies with gleaming reviews on the internet. During this time, Digital.com evaluated three criteria: the service lines offered by each company, the sizes of firms they’ve worked with, and the industries they focused on.

Each candidate had to be capable of providing a wide range of services such as mobile app development, marketing, and design. Candidates also had to demonstrate a consistent track record of successfully helping both large and small businesses. Last but not least, each development firm had to be versatile — that is, could they help businesses in a variety of sectors? With Dogtown’s previous work ranging from machine learning to the Internet of Things (IoT), Digital.com knew that we were a top contender.

Above all else, Digital.com emphasized firms who made the complex capabilities of emerging technologies easily accessible: “Making your service or software accessible to iPhone users requires an efficient and expert iPhone app developer,” says Christelle Feniza, Communications Manager of Digital.com. “This review guide was designed to help small business owners find top firms that can tailor services to meet their industry and needs.”

Thank You for Your Support!

Companies looking to boost office productivity are paying attention to a trend that started in Silicon Valley startups: dog-friendly work environments. NYC iPhone app developers have been bringing their canine companions to work for years, and now traditional businesses like Blue Cross, among others, are following suit.

The result? Lowered stress levels, increased sense of community, and of course higher efficiency.

Says neuroeconomics professor Paul Zak of Claremont Graduate University, “it is not just ‘nice’ or ‘fun’ to have dogs at work, it is an effective way to improve productivity and profits.”

Myriad studies have shown the effectiveness of dogs and cats for managing stress and mitigating negativity in group environments like nursing homes and hospitals, so it’s no surprise to mobile app developers that the science supports the benefits of bringing pets to work.

Said researchers at the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention, “A pet dog can stimulate conversation – an ice-breaking effect that can alleviate social anxiety via a social catalyst effect. Companionship with a pet can alleviate separation anxiety and strengthen attachment.”

“There are probably three dozen people I know only because of my dog,” said Drew Herdener of Amazon, who’s enviable pet-friendly policies have drawn much positive attention to the company in spite of criticism from consumer groups worried about the e-commerce titan’s market-dominating sales strategies.

Other startups and technology companies on board with the pro-pet movement include Google, Mashable, Etsy, and hundreds of other small mobile development studios and veteran iPhone app developers.

iPhone app developers who bring dogs to work are happier, healthier, and get more done. Especially for startups where employees often stay late and work weekends, having a companion from home can make the environment much more positive and ease tension. Dogs at work are a good thing for all sorts of businesses — well, except perhaps dog-walking agencies.

unicorn startup

According to CB Insights, only 1.28% of startups become unicorns. Does that make the other 98.72% failures? Hardly.

In startup culture — and even more so in venture capital culture — there’s a tendency to overlook the value of thinking small. While it’s true that a business model that can’t scale to a billion dollar business won’t turn heads among investors looking for the next Instagram, that doesn’t mean it should be tossed on the scrap heap. Especially when you consider how little room there is for iPhone app developers that can emulate the success of unicorn startups, shooting for a million-dollar business with a high chance of success often makes more sense than shooting for a billion-dollar business and failing.

Big-picture doesn’t have to mean big-frame

Whatever the motivation, it’s important to remember that big-picture thinking doesn’t have to result in a huge business. If a small app that solves a simple problem fits into your narrative as an entrepreneur, you shouldn’t abandon it simply because it doesn’t “scale.” Instead, you should concentrate on making your app as beautiful and useful as possible. Getting millions in venture capital doesn’t matter if you can build a profitable, sustainable startup without it.

Focus on the individual experience

Small businesses have a huge advantage when it comes to delivering tailored experiences to individual customers. While some large-scale startups are able to create experiences with a similar feel (FinTech mobile app Simple, for example) using high-cost US-based call centers and cutting-edge UX design, small startups can often undercut their efforts to deliver services in whatever niche they’re targeting.

Don’t do what other startups do just to fit in

The startup scene can be an insular place — which is ironic, for a culture based on avoiding the “herd mentality” at all costs. In the quest to become the next Facebook, many of your competitors are likely to overlook viable opportunities. Atlanta iPhone app developers who leverage small wins can ultimately earn the big ones in the long run.

Follow the passion project

iPhone app developers found startups for different reasons. Some are trying to solve problems for people. Some are simply trying to get rich. Most are motivated by some combination of the two.

So long as you’re creating a business you and your team are passionate about, the bottom line shouldn’t be at the center of discussions. If it’s profitable, it’s a win — regardless of whether or not it grows to be a unicorn.

iPhone app developer

No matter how altruistic your startup’s goal, the only feature that ultimately matters for iPhone app developers is this: persuasion.

Startup companies solve a lot of problems, but users have good reason to be resistant. “Another button on my phone?” “Another notification stream to worry about?” iPhone app developers struggle every day to overcome the initial hurdle in winning loyal users.

The market for something to believe in is infinite.
– Hugh MacLeod

Traditional sales tactics get a bad rap in the startup world, where value and authenticity are supposed to trump all when it comes to winning customers. Luckily, even value-packed mobile app developers can learn a thing or two from the masters of sales.

1. Create scarcity

With over a thousand new apps released by iPhone app developers to the Apple App Store every day, your users have no shortage of options for solving their problems.

Therefore, structuring your offering as exclusive — even if unnecessary — has the power to make your app look more intrinsically valuable. Once users perceive something as special, they are far less likely to give it the toss when a shiny new competitor comes along.

2. Generate reciprocity

If you’ve ever been to a casino or airport member lounge, you know how this works: the feeling of receiving a “gift” or bonus creates an urge to buy more.

Whether it’s in the form of membership upgrades, surprise features, or simply stellar customer service, creating a feeling of reciprocity encourages your users to stick around and interact with your mobile app.

3. Use body language

Startup founders and Boston iPhone app developers are a smart crowd. Data-driven features and products are commonplace, but when it’s time to pitch for investments countless startups lose interest due to old-fashioned bad body language.

The solution: mine the data. Studies show that subtle cues like occupying more space, avoiding crossed arms, and maintaining steady eye contact all have the power to make or break a sale.

The best salespeople are true believers

Ultimately, the goal of iPhone app development companies is to convince users to love an app as much as they do. Enthusiasm is infectious.

Startups have to use their heads as well as their hearts to establish a market share in the competitive mobile app marketplace.

60-second mobile ads aren’t the only change rocking the Instagram platform this month, as the company began rolling out experimental support for “account switching” — although the move may be less a calculated move to boost engagement than an effort to please the large part of their userbase that uses multiple accounts in spite of the difficulty of logging in and logging out each time they want to make a post. For Dallas iPhone app developers, the move showcases how making it easier for users to “misuse” your platform can actually boost engagement and screen time. (Think Twitter’s rampant bots and gag accounts.)

Mobile app development reporters at TechCrunch attributed the move to the company’s large 20-something userbase, who commonly maintain two accounts: one public, one private. While public accounts tend to feature the user’s real name and a considered, curated photo collection, private accounts are usually invite-only and feature off-the-cuff humorous content intended for close friends. Mobile app developers have a similar double-sided relationship with the popular photo-sharing social media platform, maintaining one or more personal accounts alongside brand-building business accounts for startups.

Adding account-switching functionality to Instagram also stands to greatly benefit startups and mobile app marketers who use the platform to engage with their audiences, as well as social media professionals who maintain multiple client accounts.

The feature has only been seen within the iOS, and company statements have not indicated whether the feature will roll out as a permanent addition, or at what date. In light of the overall positive media attention given to a relatively small feature addition, it seems likely that Instagram’s mobile app developers will introduce account-switching to the iOS and Android versions of the app sooner than later. Doing so would surely contribute to user engagement with the app, bringing more eyes in front of ads and translating to a revenue boost for the already wildly successful social media startup.

Ninety-Nine Problems: the Psychology of Mobile App Pricing https://www.dogtownmedia.com/ninety-nine-problems-the-psychology-of-mobile-app-pricing/ Mon, 15 Feb 2016 16:37:51 +0000 http://www.dogtownmedia.com/?p=6474 Scroll through the Apple App Store or Google Play and you’ll quickly notice that 99%...

The post Ninety-Nine Problems: the Psychology of Mobile App Pricing first appeared on Dogtown Media.]]>

Scroll through the Apple App Store or Google Play and you’ll quickly notice that 99% of the top apps have something very conspicuous in common; they’re all priced in 99 cent increments. You don’t have to be a mathematician or iPhone app developer to notice that something’s afoot.

While freemium pricing is undeniably on the rise, the same phenomena holds true for those pesky in-app purchases and membership fees, with prices outside of $0.99–$4.99 few and far between.

For NYC iPhone app developers, pricing your mobile app is a question of psychology, perhaps even more so than economics. Studies have shown that the forces determining how we spend our hard-earned money are murkier than we’d like to think, with emotions and associations playing a huge part in the process.

It comes as a surprise to some iPhone app developers that 99 cent apps are so successful in the Apple App Store; particularly since the trick of pricing a product at one cent under the dollar has a stronger association with cheap dollar stores than a high-class brand like Apple.

The data disagrees. Studies on consumer spending habits have shown the trick to work again and again, with prices including the number 99 outperforming alternative figures — both higher and lower — by as much as 24%.

iPhone app development companies have also found that 99 cent apps perform well due to the lack of “free trial” capability in the Apple App Store. From a psychological standpoint, 99 cents seems like throwaway money compared to an even dollar, even though the difference is a single penny.

Meanwhile, on the higher end of the pricing spectrum, iPhone app developers will find that the reverse can sometimes be true. In the right context, mobile app users favor rounded “uncluttered” pricing to specific, complex decimal points. It’s the same thinking that separates fancy restaurants with whole-dollar pricing from cheap diners with messy menus including the decimals.

Take a look at AirBnB, for example. In a clever analysis on Medium, UX designer Aaron Otani illustrated how something as simple as including a coma in figures over 1,000 adds clutter and deters shoppers. (While AirBnB doesn’t take it this far, removing the dollar sign has also been shown to boost conversions for luxury goods.)

The lesson for iPhone app developers is clear: always use data to back up your app pricing decisions, and measure how minor “arbitrary” changes affect your users’ spending habits. You never know — nudging a penny or moving a comma could make a surprising difference to your bottom line.

The post Unmute Is an iPhone App Inspired by Old-School Phone Calls first appeared on Dogtown Media.]]>

If you’re old enough to remember getting landline calls from your high school date and having younger siblings listen in on the other line, you’ll have no trouble understanding what Unmute is all about. It’s just like that, but with anyone in the world listening in — instead of just your little sister. For teens and influencers in the mobile sphere, it’s the best thing iPhone app developers have dreamed up since Periscope.

Texting and mobile messaging have been eating up the communications game for years, not to mention taking the app development game by storm for iPhone app development companies. Landlines are getting cut faster than ever — and when it comes to calling versus texting, almost everybody prefers to get a short, low-commitment text message.

…So Unmute, from entrepreneur Justin Spraggins, is flying in the face of that trend and generating a lot of buzz among iPhone app developers by “bringing back” the good ol’-fashioned telephone call. (With a few updates for the mobile app generation, of course.)

So far as functionality, Unmute is similar to Periscope, Meerkat, and other live-streaming apps. The difference is that there’s no video, lowering the barrier to entry, and the ability for users to “mute” and “unmute” followers listening in on broadcasts. Users gather followers just like any other social media platform, and users are alerted when someone they follow is live. Other than that, it’s just like a regular phone call.

The question is, will a few 2.0 updates from these Los Angeles iPhone app developers be enough to bring audio-only communication to the text-and-video driven modern mobile marketplace?

Venture capital certainly seems to think so; the young group of iPhone app developers has already earned well over $2 million in seed round funding from a variety of sources including trend-setting Greycroft Partners, Comcast Ventures, Greylock, and Betaworks.

Said Spraggins in a statement to Entrepreneur, the secret behind the app’s success is how video-free communication doesn’t “require you to be camera-ready or to have a certain level of skill … to what you’re presenting that’s engaging for the audience.”

Not to mention it’s just handy to place a voice call when you’re driving, running, or otherwise unable to tap out messages on a tiny keyboard.

The Unmute app is currently available for download at the iTunes App Store.
